Midnight Blue Dresser

This blue is so dark that it almost reads as black. This dresser has a great amount of storage and the floral ceramic knobs with a hint of gold add an additional touch of character to it. Base colour of the piece is a beautiful bright blue that in certain spots peeks through distressing. This dresser now has its own Easy listing and is waiting for the new home.

One Dresser Two Looks - Triangles Revealed

For a piece that was originally unnoticeable this dresser turned into quite a conversation starter. It took a lot of sanding, taping, painting, peeling off the tape but the effort was well worth it.
Considering it has a rather specific look to it I decided to show you how you can easily incorporate it it in adult and kids' spaces alike. It already has its own Etsy listing and there is enough time still to have it your space before the Holidays kick in. It is also eligible for the 25% Holiday discount.

Sneak Peek Of What Is To Come

The dresser that these drawers belong to may not look like much at the moment. I almost didn't notice it as I walked past it, but then it occurred to me that the fact that it doesn't have any drawer pulls or profiling renders itself to endless possibilities. First two drawers are done, 4 more and the body to go. Aiming for a full reveal on Sunday.

Bedroom Makeovers

This year seems to be the house update year. We have been in our house for 5 years now and besides some repairs and updates that had to be done in the course of the years (like waterproofing the basement, getting a new dryer etc.) we are finally putting some more energy into the interior of the house. It was cute and cozy up until now as well, but as someone who likes change and decorating I seem to have caught the 5 year itch and have decided to redo some spaces. In the past few months the rooms that were given most attention are the bedrooms. As I am eager to start new projects I always forget to take before photos and think of it when I am already half way through. I also want to add that all the rooms are done on a tight budget, partially as a challenge and partially because I know that in another few years I will want to change things around again, and decorating with oodles of cash is no fun (or so I tell myself).
So here it goes:

Max's room:
Max is my husband's 11 year old son. When in his room he mostly plays games on his tablet and is often to be fond sitting in the cozy chair nook.
Besides the essentials which are the bed and the mattress the investment in this room was minimal:

Blue Cabinet: Ikea around $120
Chair: Ikea -we had
Rug: Ikea $30 or so
Bedding: Ikea $30
White Stool: donated
Small Purple Desk: Goodwill $20
Desk Chair: Goodwill $5
Accessories: $30-$40-ish

Gaming nook

I had some leftover drawer pulls and decided to install them as clothes hooks
Emilie's room:
Emilie is Marc's 15 year old daughter that loves to read.
Chandelier: Home Depot $100
Bedding: Ikea - around $40
Blue Dresser: Goodwill $20
Old Night Stand: donated
Accessories: $30

Master Bedroom;

Black Dresser: $17
Lamp: Goodwill $5
Mirror: Piere 1 Imports - spray painted yellow - around $100
Chandelier: Ikea - purchased at Habitat for Humanity for $40 and spray painted yellow
Bedding: Ikea - total around $80
Wooden Dresser: Goodwill - $80
Floor Lamp - Goodwill $10 and lamp shade $5 goodwill sprayed with stripes
Curtains: Ikea - $30
Turquoise Sewing Cart (aka jewelry holder) - $10 - painted turquoise
Accessories: around $30

Before and After

I am currently in the process of updating the furnishing in our house. This past week on the agenda were two bedrooms on the second floor of our house that belong to my husband's children. We live in an old home that, not unlike other similar ones, has a massive lack of closet space issue. To compound the problem, both rooms have slanted roof feature on two opposite walls which limits the options when it comes to furniture. I saw this cabinet a while ago, but purchased it only last week. It is a sturdy piece but with it's own quirks not really and ideal candidate for resale and that is the main reason I never considered it before. When I saw it again last week it occurred to me that it would make a great addition in my own home. I removed original hardware and updated it with cast-off pulls that I had from some older pieces to add a bit more character.
Next up on the to do list is my own bedroom - I have a gorgeous dresser sitting in my basement already and am crossing my fingers that the dimensions fit, but that will be the subject of another post.

Black Dresser with Triangles

This year I seem to have done quite a few pieces featuring triangle treatment and I still can't seem to get enough as every time I decide to repeat the process the outcome is completely different. The finished look and feel of the piece largely depends on the colour combos I use but also on the characteristics of the piece. If you scroll down the blog posts you will see what I am talking about. In the meantime, this piece has it own Etsy listing and is up for grabs. If I had the room in my house I would so be tempted to keep it for myself.

Blue Desk

This desk was love at first sight for me. I first spotted the ornate base and once discovered that it was built of solid wood it was mine to take home. I paired it with this vibrant yet not "in your face" blue and turned it into a piece that will withstand the test of time. It now has its own Etsy listing where you can go for more info.

Pale Turquoise Desk

This vanity/desk has attracted a lot of attention on Instagram and Facebook and before I ever got the chance to share it on the blog it got scooped up and by no other than a former co-worker of mine which makes me super happy. The new owner is a stylish and awesome young woman and I am hoping this piece will bring more fun into her space.

Mustard Yellow Dresser with Hand Painted Knobs

This dresser makes  me happy just thinking about it. Bright colour will make it look like summer is in the room all year round. I could not decide what knobs to pair it with and went for the hand painted option. I bought the plain wooden knobs and Lowe's, takes off random triangles and painted them each in a different colour. This guarantees that there won't be another dresser of the same kind out there.
For more info check out it's Etsy page while it lasts.

Slate Coloured Bow Front Dresser

Here is the latest project from my studio. A few have come and gone since my last post without me getting the chance to snap decent photos.
This one is painted with milk paint and the colour is called "slate". It is a perfect blue with a hint of grey. Instead of using polyurethane I protected the finish with two coats of Danish oil with results in a deeper hue of the colour. I think I am a fan.
For more details on the piece you can cheek its Etsy listing.

Light Grey Dresser with Yellow Accents

This dresser is as sturdy as they come with storage to fit a ton of stuff. Built of solid wood it will last you a long time. Light grey body has been "funned-up" with yellow pulls, but if your love for yellow is lacking they can be easily replaced. For more info please check the Etsy listing.
