So here is my first Poppy that I have decided to share with you. This lamp was a true ugly duckling until I treated it to a can of glossy, glossy orange paint. I topped it off with a black lamp shade for some added drama (like the orange wasn't over the top enough). If you happen to stumble upon this post, drop me a line, let me know what you think.
i love it. exactly what type of paint did you buy? i know high gloss- but spray paint? or in a can, the same you would buy to paint a room?
ReplyDeleteHey K-Love,
ReplyDeletethanks for your note. I used high gloss spray paint for this job. The lamp was first sanded, then primed - primer was also from a spray can. If you are attempting a similar job, make sure you follow instructions on a can. Don't spray too closely or the pint will drip.
LOVE IT!!! i've actually been looking at antique stores for some cool brass lamps that i could paint some crazy fun colors! awesome! great color choices!
ReplyDeleteTotally love it!! But in D*S they said it's a matte finish. Can you get matte finish with spray paint? (Really love those colors!)
ReplyDeletecongrats on your appearance over at DS - looove their before and afters.
ReplyDeleteI am a total lampophile and have about 8 "spares" sitting in my back room - find it so hard to part with them - still have the lamps from beside mt bed when I was a little girl!
