Room Inspired by Fashion

Chairish is an online market place where people can buy and sell new or gently used furniture and accessories. It is a great spot to find that perfect item that will bring your space to a new level.
I have been recently approached by on of their community managers and asked to create a mood board for a room of my choice using images from the site. This is the first time I have been asked to do it and at first it was a bit intimidating, but I decided to take it on. The site features such a great selection of items in all colours, from different time periods and geographic locations that it wasn't hard finding the content. I selected an outfit as inspiration for the room and I chose it for the combination of bright and bold colours that make a great statement.

Inspiration

I chose this Turkish rug as a statement piece in the room as it successfully combines all the colours represented in the inspiration outfit.

The sofa, as well as other major furniture pieces are neutral.

Neutral furniture has allowed for the introduction of colour and texture through accessories. Accessories I chose are inspired by different cultures and give the room a warm and well traveled flair.

Glass surface of the coffee table allows the colours and the details on the rug to show through and the metallic frame parallel the jewelry from the inspiration photo.

Coffee table accessories

Bright yellow ottoman not only provides some additional seating but is in perfect contrast to the neutral and classic looking couch.

I selected this dark wood console as a way to ground the space, provide some relief from the otherwise colourful pallet and add some weight to the room.

Two Custom Cabinets

These two cabinets belong to two of my clients. The little night stand in the top picture belongs in a little girl's room and will be paired with a bright coral dresser.
The bottom cabinet is destined for a very stylish bedroom with a wallpapered accent wall in silver and yellow and a dark charcoal headboard. The blue is fresh and punchy and I am excited to see it in its final place.
If you have a piece that needs custom refinishing drop me a line, I will be happy to take on the challenge.

Before and After - Katie's Sideboard

My friend Katie and her husband have inherited this sideboard when they moved into their new house. The piece was in great shape and fit perfectly in their dining room, but the wood finish was too heavy, especially since there is also a dark wooden dining room table and chairs sharing the space. They also have a lot of colourful art so to keep the room and furnishing neutral the decision was made to paint the sideboard white. I left the drawer trim unpainted to create a connection with the rest of the furniture and Katie selected beautiful brushed gold metal knobs for the lower cabinets that tie in perfectly with the mirror hung above the piece.

Mustard Yellow Sideboard

This fun sideboard has been painted with milk paint in mustard yellow colour. What sets it apart from other similar pieces is that the bottom "drawer" is actually a door which makes it suitable to be used as an entertainment console. For more info, check the listing page on the website.

Red Desk/Vanity Painted with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint

This desk didn't wait long to get its' date with my brushes. I spotted it and knew instantly that it was destined for greatness. The body was sturdy, drawers were sliding well the only are it was lacking in  was its surface that was peppered with stickers and and minor surface scratches. I chose Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Emperor's Silk as the main colour and updated the existing pulls with a coat of Scandinavian Pink and Barcelona Orange for added punch. It is now listed both in my Etsy store and on the Poppyseed CL website.

Turkish Peshtemal Towels Now Available at Poppyseed Creative Living

Turkish peshtemal towels are all the rage these days and I purchased a few to test out and see for myself. I am not the kind to fall for the latest trends but these towels have exceeded all the expectations. They look great, come is a selection of colours and they are thick and soft at the same time. With each wash they become softer too. They are made of 100% cotton, are super absorbent, dry much faster than the regular towels and take way less space. It is a win, win, win situation no matter how you look at it. Not to mention that besides using them as a towel they can serve as a table cloth or a sarong on the beach.
With the new Poppyseed Creative Living website also serving as a shopping location for home goods I have decided to make these towels a part of my product offering and have launched the site with five colours to start with, coral, green, grey, pink and black. More colours will be coming in the months to come. I ship world wind and local purchases would get same or next day delivery.
Check the Textiles section of the website for further descriptions on each of the products.

Before and After - Little Green Cabinet

This little cabinet really didn't need much to bring it to the next level. What I found most adorable of all is that it has actual storage capacity. It is sturdy and can serve as stool in a hallway or should you decide to put it in the bathroom it can be used as a perfect catch all but also keep things out of sight.
It is currently listed in my Etsy store but also on the new Poppyseed Creative Living website. Because of its size and super affordable price I can only do local deliveries.
